Federal and State Grant Information

Grants are various monies that are provided for students and do not have to be repaid. You are automatically considered for state, federal, and New Mexico Tech grants when you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards and amounts are based on your financial need, availability of funds, and any additional eligibility criteria.

At the beginning of the school year, grants are divided into two equal payments - one each for fall and spring semesters - unless stated otherwise in the grant description.

GRANT DEADLINE NOTES
Federal Pell Grant None

The Pell Grant is a need-based federal grant that does not need to be repaid.  Students must complete the FAFSA annually in order to determine eligibility.  Amounts can vary each year.  The amount a student is awarded depends on: Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the FAFSA, cost of attendance (varies at each school), enrollment status, and whether or not the student plans to attend for the full academic year.
